I can’t say enough good about this place it started out as five days respite after taking care of my dad for two years in my home. He had a horrible experience at the Banner Ironwood facility and I am so grateful that after a short stay back in my care, I was able to find Apache Junction health center through my wonderful hospice, Stillwater. I have yet to see anybody in a bad mood everybody here seems very happy to be here both the help and the residents. The CNAs are always cheerful, there are plenty of large open areas residents can freely get to with walkers or wheel chairs. The food is amazing, and those that wish, can take their meals in a dining room that feels more like a 4⭐️restauarant. Each room has its own individual AC unit that can be adjusted to whatever temp the patient is comfortable at. Communication is great. I have always been able to reach dad’s station charge nurse or get a call back same day. I also LOVE that we can visit dad 24/7. If the main entrance is not staffed, we just use the rear North Entrance. The interior does not look like a sterile nursing facility and I never have noticed any typical “nursing home odors”, in fact i have a chronic illness and when I reach end of life stage with it, I would be happy to one day be here myself. My father has CHF, Advanced Bladder Cancer, and TBI Memory Loss, so he often only remembers the last few minutes. When he forgets where he is, he literally believes he is in a “Hotel” … I think that is sad he has no short term memory. But WONDERFUL he observes it as a HOTEL, not hospital or nursing center. He calls in the evening from the lobby to ask… Tammy, do I have a room at this Hotel or not?

This place is very clean and well kept. All the residents seem pretty content. People really care there. There only reason is not 5 stars is the parking is hard to get! I parked at the hospital on the very south end, but worried about being towed. Thank you all for taking such good care of our person there!

Cassandra and Bryce in the PT department work hard to get my Dad moving. Although it takes 2 skilled professionals to lift him with a belt from his chair and guide him while holding on to bars, he has been able to transfer and take a few steps. The cafeteria workers know him by name and cater to his needs. His medical aid on Monday was so good to him, making sure he is clean and toileted properly. I notice all the effort that goes into his care and it is very appreciated. His blood sugars are checked regularly and his insulin is based on those results. His meals are usually good and he always has options. Jennifer at the front desk is always friendly and kind.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Experience at Apache Junction Health Center! I had a wonderful experience at Apache Junction Health Center with Dr. James Gunn. He was incredibly personable, caring, and helpful. He took the time to listen, answer questions, and explain everything in a way that made me feel comfortable and genuinely cared for. His bedside manner is excellent—you can tell he truly cares about his patients and never makes you feel rushed or like you’re just another appointment. I also want to give a big compliment to the front desk staff! They were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and made the entire experience pleasant from the moment I walked through the door. It’s refreshing to find a medical office where you feel well taken care of from beginning to end. I truly appreciate Dr. Gunn and the entire team at Apache Junction Health Center and would highly recommend them! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our family has been going through one of the scariest times we’ve ever faced and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at the care center. From the moment we walked in everyone was so kind and caring. The front desk staff, Nurse Manager Lovey, Pao- who went above & beyond for our entire family and we’ll never forget him, the aides, and honestly everyone we came in contact with treated my mom with so much compassion and made us feel like she truly mattered. My mom has since been transferred back to the hospital, but the care she received while she was there meant so much to our family. I know people read reviews when deciding where to take their loved ones and I also know everyone has their own experience. All I can do is share ours and ours was nothing but positive. During one of the hardest times in our lives, every person we encountered showed kindness, patience and genuine concern for my mom and for us. That meant more than I can put into words. Whether my mom returns or not, this is the place we would choose again without hesitation. Thank you for taking such good care of her. We’ll never forget it.🫶

My brrother was there from Friday until today August 26, 2026. When he arrived late Friday night he told the nurse he had to go to the bathroom. He told them 3 times and nothing. The Dr on staff couldn’t help him, he threw up for 9 hours today and we had to call 911. He could never sleep as the roommate screamed all night. How awful for that man as they didn’t help him but yelled at him. We forgive and pray that God almighty will intervene for this place. Be blessed!

Word to the wise – don’t ignore the negative reviews for this place. My father-in-law was here for several weeks after his cancer treatment and once you get past the clean lobby, this place is scary bad.. it’s sad really, for the residents. No need to go into full details as it basically matches all of the other negative reviews. Inconsistent food quality, staff it hit & miss on attitude, often won’t answer the call button. If you go to the station they scold you and tell you to use the call button. Also cleanliness is sorely lacking in my opinion. The final straw was they seem to drag out the patient being discharged. Even our doctor said it seemed like they were just using it to get more money. Best if luck to you but I would never go here again. Wish we had seen the reviews prior.

They left my father in the same clothes for a week. He is moving to another facility, and this facility has stopped doing anything. He can’t walk, bathe or dress himself. When he first got there last year, they had an amazing staff. All but one of the nurses in the b section are lazy and/or have no clue what they are doing. Josephine is the only good nurse there.

My sister’s care team is great. As my sister’s advocate they are always positive about the course of action that we as a family want to take. They are informative and always come up with new suggestions to motivate my sister in her hopeful recovery process. They are also very open to listening to my thoughts, my input, and the course of therapy or counseling that the family wants to pursue. This staff and facility are always extremely accommodating, accessible, polite, and professional. We develop a plan as a care team and family to motivate and move my sister to success in pursuing her ultimate goal of returning home. Thank you Apache Junction Health Center, your efforts, protocols, and caring involvement speak highly of your facility and professional staff.🙂😊 The only negative is the price. Taking 90% of my sister’s social security check monthly leaves very little funds for my sister to purchase personal things with. 😥 With courtesy, The Hurley Family 🙏🫶👍

I am one of their current patients in this facility and I was also here last year for a different case.This place has done a lot of great things that help me a lot in my overall well-being. I was reading some of the reviews for them and I can tell you that my experience with them was amazing. My son-in-law is also a current patient here and that alone speaks volumes that this facility is a great place. I love working with their therapy people and wonderful activity staff. My nurses and Lovie have been very nice and wonderful to me and my family. I will be going home tomorrow but I will visit them regularly until I go back to Michigan. I am writing this review to express my profound concern and disappointment regarding the care my father-in-law received while he was a patient at Apache Junction Health Center. He underwent open-heart surgery at Banner Heart Hospital. Following a week of recovery, during which he made remarkable progress, he was transferred to this facility to continue rehabilitation before returning home. We expected that he would continue to regain his strength under their care. Instead, we watched his health rapidly and alarmingly decline. From nearly the beginning of his stay, our family noticed significant changes in his condition. We visited him at least twice a day, every day, and other friends and family members visited frequently as well. We witnessed him go from being alert, conversational, sitting up, and engaging with visitors to becoming increasingly weak, exhausted, and disoriented. Each day, he seemed to deteriorate further. His appetite declined dramatically, and he was consuming very little food or fluids. We repeatedly voiced these concerns to the nursing staff, but they were consistently dismissed. We were assured that he was eating, yet nearly every time we visited, his meal trays were returned virtually untouched. It became painfully clear that he was not receiving the nutrition his body needed to recover. During his stay he contracted (C. difficile), resulting in severe diarrhea that left him dehydrated and significantly weaker. We observed what appeared to be inadequate monitoring of his hydration and overall condition. On several occasions, we found him lying in soiled bedding or soiled clothes. These situations should have been addressed promptly, yet they repeatedly occurred. Watching him remain in those conditions was unacceptable. The most disturbing incident occurred on the day he was transferred back to the hospital. His condition had deteriorated so severely we had an ambulance called to take him back to the hospital because we believed something was seriously wrong. As we gathered his belongings, I discovered his dentures still sealed inside their case in his bag. They had apparently never been removed or offered to him during his entire stay. When I brought this to the attention of the nurses, they looked at one another and admitted they had not realized he even had dentures. My father-in-law is 82 years old. Ensuring that he had his dentures so he could properly eat should have been part of even the most basic patient assessment. If he was unable to chew his meals comfortably, it is no surprise that he was not eating. This oversight alone demonstrates a troubling lack of attention to fundamental aspects of patient care. The cumulative failures we witnessed—including the dismissal of our concerns, inadequate attention to his nutrition and hydration, poor hygiene, and the lack of basic assessment regarding his dentures—paint a deeply troubling picture of the care provided at this facility. It is devastating to know that someone we love endured unnecessary treatment at this facility that was supposed to be caring for him. Today, he remains hospitalized and is fighting for his life. While we understand that every patient’s medical condition is unique, we firmly believe that the care he received at Apache Junction Health Center significantly contributed to the decline in his health and delayed his recovery. After reading numerous reviews from other families, it is apparent that our experience is not an isolated incident. Many describe similar concerns regarding neglect and inadequate care. That pattern makes our experience even more troubling. Our family entrusted this facility with the care of a man who had survived major heart surgery among other obstacles and was making excellent progress. Instead of helping him recover, we watched him deteriorate physically and emotionally. No family should have to witness what we did.

Father-in-law got horrible care. No one answered his light, helped him when he asked, and he was released with an open deep wound on his leg needing debridement.☹️😞

Awful facility

I wish I could give this place negative stars. My grandfather got admitted to the hospital Father’s Day (June 21st) he stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks before getting put in Apache Junction Health Center. While recovering at the hospital he was doing great. He was back to his usual self almost. Making jokes, eating, talking to us. As soon as he left and was put in the “health” center, he declined. He wouldn’t talk, had a blank stare, and you could just tell he didn’t feel good. We raised concerns with the incompetent staff multiple times and they were always irritated. His last day was it. His vitals were unstable, he was rarely checked on, he has dentures that weren’t put it once during his stay. The nurse said she didn’t know why he had the issues he did such as shakiness, shortness of breath, and fatigue. We realized it’s because they haven’t had him on the oxygen he NEEDS and he has barely ate since he’s been there. They lied and have no communication skills. The staff wanted to release him even though he can’t walk, eat, or even go to the bathroom by himself. My father was there to watch as they tried to hold then pen in his hand and sign it for him then continued to have my father forge his signature. Onto the facility itself I can imagine it’s swarming with bacteria because of how hot it is in the building. The hand sanitizer machines were all empty. My grandfather is now back in the hospital getting the care he needs. Don’t send your loved ones here, don’t send anyone here. I am sending prayers for everyone currently in there care.

Just visited AJ Health as a dear friend is in recovery and therapy there. I like the security of sign in and out. There seems to be plenty of staff at the facility, it is very busy and I think that is good for everybody. Met one of the therapist and he was patient and gentle and accommodative toward a 80 something hesitant woman who doesn’t want to get up. All the staff seems great. While I did get a up front parking spot, they don’t have near enough parking space there.

Receptionist is very pushy, can’t get a sentence out without her repeating herself. Like damn, chill out, I understand that you have real customer about to be cash cows. But also take care of your current resid3nts.
